HOW CAN YOU HELP AFTER HURRICANE
KATRINA
Although the Boy Scouts of America's Charter and Bylaws do not
allow for youth members to solicit funds for other
organizations, there are many ways Scouts can help in the
relief efforts.
-
Give to the United Way: The
United Way of Greater St. Louis committed $100,000 to help
the people in the affected area as an initial immediate
response. (Click
here for Media Release.) Individuals and companies may
use United Way as a vehicle to make a disaster relief gift.
If individuals would like to make contributions to those
impacted by Katrina, they can be sent to the
United Way of Greater St. Louis for distribution. One
hundred percent of the funds will go directly to United Ways
in the crisis areas.
-
Contact Disaster Relief Agencies:
The local
Red
Cross,
Salvation Army and other agencies will be communicating
their needs. Food drives, clothing drives, and other
services will be needed in the near future.
-
Encourage Others: Remind
your family and friends to make financial contributions to
the disaster relief agency of their choice. Print
this flier and distribute it in your community to let
people know where and how to donate.
